Susan Baird participated in the Hill End Artist in Residence Program in 2010. Captivated by its vernacular architecture, nuanced landscape and quality of light, particularly at twilight, Baird continues to draw inspiration form Hill End. During her second residency Baird will continue a series of etchings using plates developed in sitsu by drawing directly from the landscape onto the plate, conveying a sense of 'being' in the landscape. These etchings, along with her atmospheric Hill End paintings, will be exhibited at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery in 2013.
