Rachel Ellis will be undertaking her second residency at Haefligers Cottage in 2016, having completed her first almost a decade earlier in December 2006. Although having realised and successfully exhibited a number of works made during the first residency, Rachel feels compelled to undertake another in order to bring to completion some unresolved paintings depicting spaces in and around the Haefliger house and garden. In order to complete these works begun ten years ago, it is important Rachel revisits the cottage since she works primarily in-situ allowing the immediacy of drawing and painting from life to inform her work. Responding to the relationships of line, form, shape and colour and how these elements interact with changing light, Rachel will build upon existing work and develop ideas for new projects.
