RHYS LITTLE
Murrays Cottage
1 – 26 March 2020
Composer Rhys Little will plan and develop a major new work for the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and University of Sydney’s ‘Modest Orchestra’ in response to a quote from famous Austro-Bohemian Romantic Composer and leading Conductor Gustav Mahler (1866-1911): “A symphony should be like the world”. In current times, that means composing a piece expressing fragile beauty, rapid change and the constant spectre of climate change and relentless economics. The piece will also take inspiration from the local Australian landscape which has long been a strong influence in Little’s work.
