Faraz came to Australia four years ago as an international Student enrolled in National Art School. During this time he began researching the history of Afghans in Australia which became the basis of a series of works titled ‘Hybrid Identity’. In Hill End, Ali plans to use Hill End’s rich artistic history to develop contemporary portraits, which the artist describes as cultural ‘cryptograms’ which combine cultural history and something predominantly new from the eye of an outsider.
