Joanna Gambotto is a Sydney-based artist interested in the history of places. Joanna’s project will focus on heritage sites found in the Hill End/Bathurst region and creating a body of work, which investigates those places in the context of the area’s rich colonial history. As a starting point for her works she will use subject matter found in Bathurst’s numerous antique shops, Craigmoor and Chifley Home, Hill End’s churches as well as other places of historical significance she will come across during the residency.
