Jones travels widely collecting stories, quotes, words, typography, newspaper cuttings and sketches from around the world. As Jones states: Being immersed in another world, bathing in different cultural landscapes, soaking up new things all help to stimulate new ideas and ways of seeing and experiencing things previously unseen.
In December 2012 and March 2013, Jones spent time in Hill End as part of the Hill End Artists in Residence Program working with local, renowned ceramic artist Lino Alvarez. The result of the collaboration is a series of magnificent large-scale clay vessels with surfaces covered by Jones' engaging etched pictograms drawn from the Hill End environment.
