AMANDA BROMFIELD
Murrays Cottage
1 – 26 February 2021
During her residency, artist Amanda Bromfield will tell the story of gold and art at Hill End. She will piece together women’s stories to create a fabric of conversations which juxtapose the past and present.
Bromfield plans to draw inspiration from Margaret Olley’s tiled stove located in Murrays Cottage, created from tiles which Margaret Olley and Donald Friend found at Hill End, as well as the handsewn quilt from 1875 sewn by Sarah Marshall, a former resident of Hill End historic building ‘Craigmoor’. Through fusion of ceramics with women’s crafts, Bromfield will develop a body of work which ignites the stories of the women of Hill End.
