Deborah vaughan: 2 January - 2 February 2009
Video installation artist Deborah Vaughan will a develop site specific video project in Hill End based on small, everyday observations of time, place and landscape. Deborah's residency is funded by the Department of Environment and Climate Change.
Nigel Killalea: 9 March - 6 April 2009 
Hill End's cycles of habitation and abandonment offers painter Nigel Killalea the opportunity to continue his exploration of the rhythms, imagery, symbols and stories embedded in landscape. Nigel's residency will be funded by Country Energy.
Peter Cameron: 10 April - 8 May 2009 
Working en plein air, Peter Cameron will paint the landscape of Hawkins Hill from Merlins Lookout daily in order to focus on the changing colours of its vista, the textures and forms in the folds of the hills, the cloud formations and the haze.
Cathy Laudenbach: 1 - 29 June 2009 
Photographer Cathy Laudenbach returns to Hill End to continue her investigations of history, memory and place through the creation of a new body of work which explores the notion of women in the landscape and which draws inspiration from the historic work of painters such as Donald Friend, Margaret Olley and Russell Drysdale.
Stephen Bird: 1 - 29 August 2009 
For painter, sculptor and ceramicist Stephen Bird the opportunity to work away from his usual studio in practice in Sydney will provide time for contemplation, exploration and the development of a body of work connecting Hill End's first economic migrants and his own search for content and meaning in Hill End.Stephen's residency is funded by Arts NSW.
Tania Mason: 4 September - 2 October 2009 
While in Hill End, Tania Mason will outline, design and illustrate a child's picture storybook based on a narrative concerning Hill End's historic characters.
Juliet Holmes à Court: 5 October - 2 November 
Painter Juliet Holmes à Court plans to immerse herself in the colours, grand forms and history of the landscape of Hill End to create new works for her next exhibition at Australian Galleries, Sydney. |
