Amy Dynan’s charcoal drawing explores ideas of Being and Self in contemporary life. Her physical experience of Being is realised in the moving meditation of drawing. As a laborious, repetitive process, drawing demands constant reinvention of application and perception. In Hill End, Dynan will create five large-scale charcoal self-portraits, informed by her experience of the community of Hill End, which will address what it means to be in or of a place. This project, titled ‘Local Beings', will research the manifestations of individual and cultural heritage that arise from an experience of ‘Being’ a Hill End local.
